You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Get some cultural insight at Fisherman's Bastion and Heroes' Square. Visit Buda Castle and Matthias Church for their historical value. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Budapest is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Malaysia Time to Central European Standard Time, which is usually a -7 hour difference. Prepare for much colder weather when traveling from Kuala Lumpur in December: high temperatures in Budapest hover around 5°C and lows are around -1°C. Prague lures millions of tourists each year with its World Heritage-listed medieval city center--a labyrinth of narrow lanes, bridges, cathedrals, and palaces overlooked by a thousand-year-old castle.
You've now added Prague Castle to your itinerary. Let the collections at Lobkowicz Palace and Jewish Museum in Prague capture your imagination. Staromestske namesti and Prague Astronomical Clock are good opportunities to explore the local culture. The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.
Belvedere Palace has been added to your itinerary. Kick off your visit on the 18th (Sun): see the interesting displays at Hofburg, explore the galleries of Belvedere Palace, then explore the world behind art at Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Stephen's Cathedral.
