City of the Tribes
A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.Bunratty Castle & Folk Park and Aughnanure Castle will appeal to history buffs. Do some cultural sightseeing at Royal Abbey of Cong and Rathcroghan Royal Site & Visitor Centre. Venture out of the city with trips to Dromoland Castle (in Newmarket-on-Fergus), Coole Park Nature Reserve (in Gort) and Hag's Head (in Liscannor). Spend the 12th (Wed) exploring nature at Connemara National Park & Visitor Centre. There's much more to do: examine the collection at Michael Davitt Museum, explore the ancient world of Belleek Castle Museum, get a taste of the local shopping with Foxford Woollen Mills, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Boyle Abbey.
