City of the Tribes

A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Burren National Park and Burren Birds of Prey Centre. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Ashford Castle and Royal Abbey of Cong. Go for a jaunt from Galway to Leenane to see Killary Fjord about 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Galway Bay, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Croagh Patrick, and steep yourself in history at Poulnabrone Dolmen.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiports are Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport and Cork Airport. In August, daytime highs in Galway are 19°C, while nighttime lows are 12°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
