The capital of Sardinia, Cagliari is spread out over seven hills and still bears the marks of its past conquerors, including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, and Romans.

Step out of the city life by going to Porto Pino and Spiaggia Portu Tramatzu. Santuario e Basilica di Bonaria and Museo del Carbone are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Cagliari side-trips: Grotte di Su Mannau (in Fluminimaggiore), Cala Domestica (in Buggerru) and Spiaggia Is Arenas Bianca (in Teulada).
