City of the Tribes

A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.
Visit Kilmacduagh Tower and Dromoland Castle for their historical value. Get a sense of the local culture at Riverside Walk and Monk's Fishing House. Get out of town with these interesting Galway side-trips: Fanore Beach (in Fanore), Hazel Mountain Chocolates (in Bell Harbour) and Standun (in Spiddal). There's much more to do: experience rural life at Joyce Country Sheepdogs, have fun at Turoe Pet Farm & Leisure Park, and look for all kinds of wild species at Dromore Wood Nature Reserve.

For traveler tips, where to stay, more things to do, and other tourist information, go to the Galway trip itinerary planning website.

If you are flying in from Argentina, the closest major aiports are Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport and Cork Airport. In January, daily temperatures in Galway can reach 7°C, while at night they dip to 2°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
