Located just east of the famous ruins after which it is named, Ayutthaya provides the setting for a holiday of historical, natural, and cultural exploration.Kick off your visit on the 8th (Sat): get to know the fascinating history of Wat Chaiwatthanaram, take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Phu Khao Thong (Golden Mount), then contemplate the long history of Historic City of Ayutthaya, and finally explore the ancient world of Wat Phra Sri Sanphet. Keep things going the next day: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Wat Pa Lelai Woraviharn, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Wat Muang, then steep yourself in history at Wat Yai Chai Mang Khon, and finally pause for some photo ops at Wat Maha That.

Pak Chong to Ayutthaya is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train. Expect a daytime high around 38°C in October, and nighttime lows around 29°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Sun) early enough to drive back home.
