Marble City

The country's smallest city in terms of population, Kilkenny boasts a rich cultural heritage and diverse tourist attractions that include well-preserved medieval architecture, exciting nightlife, a vibrant culinary scene, and abundant shopping opportunities.
Relax by the water at Curracloe Beach and Ballinoulart Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Kilkenny: Waterford (Waterford Treasures Medieval Museum & Kilmurrin Cove), Enniscorthy (The National 1798 Rebellion Centre & Curracloe Beach) and Wexford (Baginbun Beach & Tintern Abbey). There's still lots to do: step into the grandiose world of Kilkenny Castle, take in the spiritual surroundings of Black Abbey, sample the tasty concoctions at Smithwick's Experience, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Canice's Cathedral & Round Tower.

Dublin to Kilkenny is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or take a train. March in Kilkenny sees daily highs of 11°C and lows of 5°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can drive to Galway.

A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.
Visit Lahinch Beach and Fanore Beach for some beach relaxation. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Galway: Miltown Malbay (Spanish Point Beach & White Strand Beach), Aillwee Cave (in Ballyvaughan) and Gleninsheen Wedge Tomb (in Caherconnell). On the 17th (Sat), spend a cool day on the water with Charter Ireland. There's still lots to do: get great views at Cliffs of Moher, appreciate the extensive heritage of Salthill Promenade, step into the grandiose world of Bunratty Castle & Folk Park, and take an in-depth tour of Galway City Museum.
