The Hofje van Bakenes or Bakenesserkamer is a hofje in Haarlem, Netherlands, located between the Bakenessergracht and the Wijde Appelaarsteeg. In the Middle Ages "kamer" or "room" meant house. Cute courtyard originally from the twelfth century. Enter via one the doors from the alleys. It's very peaceful. Just remember people live there.

Beautiful hofje but it is mentioned as the oldest hofje in the Netherlands as it was rebuilt in the 18th century. I don't quite get that.
