Hermitage Amsterdam, the Netherlands' ninth most-visited attraction in 2013, presents the country's historical relations with Russia and features art collections from the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg--one of the largest and oldest museums in the world. At the 12,846 sq m (138,273 sq ft) building dating from 1682, learn about its past as a retirement home, and see temporary exhibits that change every six months. Ask for an audio guide in the entrance hall. Arrive by bus or boat to avoid difficulty parking. I found the exhibition interesting and it was nice to see four Rembrandt paintings. I knew I would only be seeing four so my expectation level was set correctly. I used my Museumkaart so I can't...

Very informative. They are extremely quick at updating the content as you can see parts of exhibition dedicated to events of 2022. As you walk through they do a beautiful job at blending and contrasting the original art pieces with their modern counterparts. Free audioguide provided.

This museum had a smaller permanent collection on display than others in Amsterdam. It was really only one room. They did have audio guides that let you hear about many of the major works. In addition to the permanent collection, they did have a temporary exhibit as well. When we were there it was about justice and equality. We finished with the permanent collection in under 45 minutes. We were done with the whole museum after about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The entrance is actually a little hard to find. You can enter on the canal side or on the side street. But you need to make your way into a courtyard.
