Admire the grand and evocative design of Temple Of Dawn (Wat Arun), a towering Buddhist temple located in the heart of Bangkok. Established in the 1600s--but gaining its distinctive porcelain-clad prangs (spires) during the reign of King Rama II in the early 19th century--the temple represents an apex of religious architecture and is one of the best maintained of all buildings commissioned by the Thai monarchy. Open to the public as a place of worship and tourism, the site contains prized artifacts relating to the religious and royal history of Thailand. Beautiful temple and surrounding area, one of the best. Great photos are guaranteed. The last time we visited, I willingly donated around 1,000 baht and bought from vendors without being pressured, It’s nice to have this choice. Security have since expanded their territory. To enter the whole area including the neighbouring temple and greenery it costs 100 Baht from anyone not Thai. Thai people like my wife and baby can get in for free.

It is a must see while you are here. I have been there over 4 times as it is just so beautiful. There are usually a lot of people early in the day but less as the day goes on. Try to see it at night all lit up. Pictures do not do it justice. There are nice restaurants and hotels across the river to see it at night. Not a lot of food nearby and basically have to cross the river by boat at some point. Shoulders and knees must be covered
