To see an exquisite example of Gothic architecture, head to Cathedrale de Lausanne in the heart of the city's medieval Old Town. Built during the 12th and 13th centuries, the building replaced an earlier and much more modest church structure. Thanks to constant conservation efforts and a few careful restorations, the building appears today just as it did upon its completion in 1235. Step inside to see the world-famous organ, which took nearly a decade to design and consists of 7,000 pipes. Take a guided tour to learn more about the cathedral's architecture and history, and climb the tower for sweeping views over the city and its lake. Put Cathedrale de Lausanne and other Lausanne attractions into our Lausanne road trip app, and watch your holiday take shape.

Quiet, impressive and calm. Interesting porch on south side. Beautifully carved modern pews in top quality wood, with the ability to turn so that one can face the opposite direction.

Amazing architecture. Incredible stained glass. Most of the building is open to visit. Nice outside picnic area with an amazing panoramic view of the city and lake. Short but steep climb from the main street. If you like old buildings and stained glass, it's well worth the visit.

Gothic style cathedral with fascinating stained glasses and beautiful architecture. They also have a free guided tour of the cathedral at certain timings. We went on a weekday and we were the only ones yet the guide was sweet enough to take us around and explain everything in detail. You can literally see the various timings(centuries) the cathedral was remodelled. Before visiting, just check if there is any organ concert is scheduled on the day. If so, you're in for a treat.
