Create an itinerary including Skansen
Experience centuries of Swedish history through architecture, reconstructed farms, and live reenactments at Skansen, one of the world's first open-air museums. The property, established in 1891, boasts 150 houses and other buildings that have been moved from different parts of the country to this site as examples of regional style. Here Scandinavian traditions are upheld through craft making and Swedish celebrations. Take in views of Stockholm from this vantage point--kids will especially like the Stockholm zoo and children's zoo. After exploring the museum and watching living history actors in period dress, stop into the museum shop to purchase national specialties and handicrafts. • Something for everyone! This is a first-rate living history museum, zoo, and park. Tip: The park is on kind of a plateau above street level and affords great views over Stockholm. Do not fear! Each...

  • If the weather is decent, this park is a perfect spot to enjoy a bit of nature in Stockholm for a half day. Also doubles as a zoo and musical venue spot to enjoy an open air concert. The park itself holds various species of local fauna (bears, wolves, etc) as well as different structures from around Sweden's past eras.
  • What a wonderful gem and great concept for foreigners with limited time to visit. I'm sure it's not 100% authentic, but it gives a great idea of how life was in these regions. Plenty to see for a relatively good admission price. Would recommend for short stay travelers.
