On the scenic peninsula Blasieholme sits Nationalmuseum, which was built in the mid-19th century in the North Italian Renaissance style. You can admire the exterior, but the building is closed for renovation until 2017. The national gallery holds the country's premier collection of art and design, including works from the Middle Ages up to the 20th century. Most prominently, the collection boasts significant pieces from Rembrandt and other Dutch painters. To see some of its treasures, visit the temporary exhibit space at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. • Interesting, well curated and maintained. The building itself is a piece of art and the exhibits, even though not as exciting as such museums in other capitals, has a wide selection of paintings...

  • What a fantastic selection of paintings and design from over the years. A truly mesmerising journey through time. We particularly enjoyed the Joseph Ducreux self portraits 🤫🫢 We strongly recommend.....  more

  • Very interesting museum in the heart of Stockholm which is free of a entry fee for the main exhibitions (which is about 95% of the museum I‘d say). The museum shows a great variety of art from Rembrandt pictures to innovative electric mobility designs. I highly recommend at least spending some time here since it is free and has a lot to offer!
  • For a start, the building is beautiful. They have a wide art collection, nicely arranged by decade. I loved that it is accessible for everyone. The museum is free. You get to see masterpieces like Rembrandt. For a contribution you could also acces (during my stay) two other exhibitions including a audio tour. I really liked it.
