  • Nice gardens with plenty to see. However they do not take credit cards so took all my cash literally to pay entry and cable cars return. They are installing card kiosks at the moment but should have.....  more

  • Quite expensive for what it was - not that impressive. Quite small and parts were not kept very well. Seen much better planting in the rest of Funchal.

  • Nice garden for a wander around. Be aware though that the cable car from Funchal does not go directly to the botanic Gardens. It goes to the tropical gardens at Monte, to get to the botanical gardens you need to take a second cable car to another part of the mountain - this adds some unexpected expense.
  • Beautiful Botanical Garden with a great variety of plants from all around the world. The palm trees area was my favourite. I saw many flowers even dough it is middle of March. Might be spectacular during spring-summer! The views to the city and the sea are also breathtaking.
