The most northerly aquarium on the planet, Polaria dedicates its exhibits to the wildlife and ecosystems of Norway's most extreme reaches. Visit the facility, housed in a building designed to resemble ice sheets, and explore its multitude of Artic display tanks. Although the city of Tromso itself is northern, the aquarium offers a special focus on the Svalbard archipelago. Wander the many exhibits dedicated to cold-water creatures, including shoreline dwellers, and stop by the open enclosure to visit its contingent of bearded seals. Afterward, take a stroll through the Arctic walkway portion of the center, which boasts a collection of heavy equipment and gear used in polar exploration. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Tromso holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Polaria and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Interesting exhibition, an I-max style cinema and gorgeous seals. Would highly recommend. Really puts climate change into perspective

The 180 degree film was out of focus and the text was not clear with a background letter shadow. OK if you want a very limited wildlife/sea life experience. NOT for those wanting to learn about...

Adv: The aquarium shows different animals that are used to live in the arctic area, and allow you to see the beautiful of coral reefs. You can walk under the water and see sea dogs different types of rare fish swimming above you. There are many displays that show many Arctic islands including their nature and animals. Also, the aquarium provides scientific information through different ways like interactive screens, recorded audio, games, etc. From there you can have ticket to see an old ship that was used in fishing. Also there are cafe and shop for souvenir. Disadv: There is no real polar bear, only artificial one.
Top attraction in Tromsø. Sensitive presentation of captive seals overcomes natural aversion to preforming animal shows. Excellent aquarium featuring free swimming and anchored marine life. Good presentation of environmental issues and explanation of Northern Lights. Rather bewildering presentation of Svalbard on 5 screens. Pleasant staff. Must see.
