Troldhaugen Edvard Grieg Museum
Once the home of famous Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, Troldhaugen Edvard Grieg Museum today serves as a living museum dedicated to his memory and his life's work. Located on a grassy hill overlooking Nordas Lake, the museum complex includes the 19th-century villa where Grieg and his wife lived, the hut where Grieg composed many of his most well-known pieces, and Troldsalen, the concert hall that the Greigs built on the property. Take a moment to enjoy the views and nature that is said to have inspired his genius, and stop by the gravesite where Greig and his wife are buried. Tours are included in the ticket price and held regularly in Norweigan, English, Russian, and German; other languages must be booked in advance. Verify with the museum about tour schedules, and check the website for performances that occur here frequently. By using our Bergen route maker site, you can arrange your visit to Troldhaugen Edvard Grieg Museum and other attractions in Bergen.

This beautiful home with its history and fabulous views was worth making the effort to get there. It was one of my favorite sites in Bergen.

Take the time to listen to Grieg's music before you go. Chances are you are familiar with it anyways. The home and its setting is lovely and worth an hour or so.

There's a very nice display of Grieg's life in the visitor center, as well as a coffee shop and toilets. His house is a short walk over a little bridge. The lovely concert hall on the grounds is a perfect venue to hear a piano concert of Grieg's music with beautiful scenery behind the pianist.

Very nice museum with beach nearby. Nice view in bergen. Have to got down on Hop and walk 1.7km. Route was yellowish as it is autumn season. Very old wooden building with short opening hours. Be careful of the path when you travel in autumn as its slippery.
