Gaze at the endless display of Baroque architecture and adornments inside Chiesa Del Gesu. Hidden inside a misleadingly plain exterior, detailed carved marble inlays cover the walls like a mosaic among statues and columns. Descend into the comparatively plain crypt, and after passing through the porticoed courtyard, view a large collection of portraits in the attached museum housed in the Biblioteca Comunale. Put Chiesa Del Gesu and other Palermo attractions into our Palermo trip itinerary website, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Exquisite baroque church. Was there when a wedding took place. It wasn't on the top of my list and we stumbled in and it was exqusite.

  • It is very impressive. The paintings are new and not conventional. The church is well preserved. And the visit is free. Honestly, best choice. All the other places have been paid, poorly-preserved...

  • I was shocked to find such a beautiful church in an absolutely random place. This is one of the most beautiful baroque interior I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen plenty. The eye in the triangle which is also related to Illuminati - is actually a regular Christian (and not only) sign which symbolizes an eye of the God and an unlimited power of the God to see everything in the world. So called Eye of Providence or all-seeing eye.
  • Unfortunately I couldn't go all the way in because they had a special mass for a holiday. Please check their website before visiting. Absolutely gorgeous church though!
