    This is one of Ireland’s best preserved Franciscan Friary. This siting of the Friary over a stream was not by chance , but to give running water to the Kitchens . To refer to this Friary as an Abbey is totally misleading as there not inter changeable and would have had different roles in the community . It was also the main Friary with Roserk being of the 3rd order .
