Create an itinerary including Galway City Museum
Discover Galway's past at Galway City Museum, where objects from pre-history to present day fill the galleries of this coastal complex. The maritime industries that helped build the city take a place of honor in the museum's exhibits. Because farming was another way of life that influenced the city, a collection of farm equipment shares space with industrial artifacts. Admission to the museum is free, and its location on the seashore next to the Spanish Arch makes it a good stopping point on a walking tour of the city and coastline. • It’s a small museum but we really enjoyed what we saw. In particular a traveling exhibit of photographs of children from an Irish ethnic minority group that were along the outside of the building...

  • Really friendly staff who kindly advised on the Garda exhibition. The museum is split 3 floors and provides good level of exhibits in a combination of visual, audio and interactive displays...

  • Easy to find, just in the heart of Galway city centre. Free entry, of course you can donate some money if you are willing to. They recommend to do 5 euros , which probably is a bit too expensive for the expositions there. Nothing much to see, took us around 20 mins to see everything. 3 floors , everything displayed very well. If you want to know something more about Galway and the Aran Islands, this place is a must. Recommended.
  • I visited the museum this morning with my daughter. We spent approximately 2 hours there. It is a fairly small museum but there is plenty to see. I particularly enjoyed the exhibition on the Gaels and the Monument exhibition and the artworks. The museum is free to enter but they recommend a donation of €5. I would recommend a visit here to anyone visiting Galway.
