We did the overnight Aran Islands trip and had a fantastic experience. We arrived at the boat and had a warm tea and light lunch and then set sail. The sail to the islands was around 4 hours. The skipper was very experienced and let us do some of the steering. We docked right in the heart of town. We went on a beautiful bike trip around the islands and up to the ruins. Beautiful cliffs!! We had the place to ourselves because we were exploring after most of the large tour boats leave the island. We had a nice dinner in one of the local restaurants and then went to watch the euro cup in the local pub. The boat was very comfortable to sleep in. The sail back was the same, beautiful to be at sea in Ireland. Tip: Pack good outdoors gear for the sail. You will get sprayed with some water if the wind is strong. We also wore toques to keep warm - we were there in early July. Highly recommend this experience to see the Aran Islands.
