National Gallery of Ireland
At National Gallery of Ireland see Irish and other European masterpieces, including Italian Baroque and Dutch works. Founded in 1854, the museum houses 14,000 pieces, with an extensive permanent collection of Irish paintings. Admire the dramatic architecture of the Millennium Wing, which opened in 2002 and was designed by Benson & Forsyth. Stroll through Merrion Square on your way to or from the museum and take in the scenery. Check online for information about tours, educational programs, and visiting exhibits. I spent about an hour there in between scheduled tours, and I could have spent longer. Good collection from old masters to modern day. Nice building, well organized, and on that day quite popular...

I can't get over no entry fee being charged to visit this gallery! Vermeer, Caravaggio, Rembrandt... they have so many lovely works of art. Irish artists like Jack B Yeats are also well represented. You need several hours to see all of it! Well, worth a visit. The renovations were very well done too! Truly a pleasure to visit!

I’m not an art person but this was a nice way to spend an hour or so, especially on a rainy day. It’s free which makes it an easy decision. Several famous artists have a couple paintings here. We went when they first opened in the morning and there was almost no one there. It was kinda fun to have the museum virtually to ourselves.
