Trip Planner: Europe / Ireland / Province of Munster / County Cork / Carrigtwohill / Fota Wildlife Park
Without a cage or fence in sight, Fota Wildlife Park houses dozens of species of mammals and birds from habitats as diverse as deserts, savannas, tropical forests, wetlands, and oceans. Designed with unobtrusive barriers, the zoo's paddocks allow visitors to observe wild animals in natural settings closely resembling their native habitats. To explore the park's 30 hectares (75 acres) in mere minutes, hop on a tour train, whcih circles the grounds and makes stops at the education center created with the youngest visitors in mind. For a more personal experience with the animals, follow the 2 km (1.2 mi) circular trail as you watch for ring-tailed lemurs and squirrel monkeys, which are allowed to roam freely and interact with visitors. 2 adults and 5 younger adults We brought a picnic and had a great chill day wandering around. It helped that the weather was great

I visited with my friend with high hopes to see the capybaras, unfortunately, we left with great disappointment as the capybaras where not in their habitat. 😢

This place is spread over many acres of land, and the animals in this wildfire park have really huge enclosures and they are very well maintained. The animals themselves are well fed, as there are certain times of the day when you can see the caretakers feed the animals. The park itself is huge, with loads of animals, and a lot of space to walk. You can easily spend the whole day at Fota. This place is located half an hour drive from cork city, but you can easily take the bus/train to reach there. Definitely worth a visit.
It was lovely to see the Animals free in their enclosure, I wasn't able to go the whole way around, but I got half way around. Its was the Time for putting food into their houses while the animals were out side, they staff really feed them the best of fresh food and water. It wasn't an expensive day out. Only negative thing I would say and it's the only negative thing is, its the staff wasn't the friendliest .The shop is responsible cheep for the parents of the children or any souvenir. Overall an enjoyable Day out. Worth a visit
