  • A very nice 1.5 hour walk on a well marked trail. We wore boots as some people said the path was boggy but boots really weren't necessary.

  • Had a wonderful time on this walking trail while visiting Belmullet. A local driver dropped us here from our hotel. He mentioned at least the initial start of the trail is simply the track way made by sheep walking the edge of the pasture. Makes for an interesting start to the path because you are literally climbing a ladder into pastures where sheep are roaming around. 😊 The weather for us was lovely, but even in June it was brisk, so be sure to bring layers and wear hiking boots or at least sneakers. Boggy areas are nicely covered with planks. The distance is approx 5k (~ 3 mi) and well marked by black posts along the way. Trail offers stunning views of Irish countryside and cliffs, very peaceful and picturesque. There are only a few difficult areas that I could see as challenging for elderly or small children or anyone not fully able bodied: the ladders and steep incline at the beginning of the trail as well as another steep incline leading to the ww2 lookout point about halfway through. If you’re accustomed to hiking, I would rate this as easy. Would highly recommend it if you find yourself nearby!
