Three museums, each highlighting a different period of art, are housed at Alte Pinakothek. The museums are within walking distance of each other, so you can easily explore all three on foot or by bicycle. First, stop by one of the oldest art galleries in the country. It houses a collection of at least 800 masterpieces from the Middle Ages to the end of the Rococo period. Look for works by Durer, Rubens, and da Vinci, among others. Next, visit the gallery that displays about 400 paintings and sculptures from the 19th century. Highlights include works by Monet, Degas, and Renoir. Finally, explore the gallery opened in 2002 to display a vast collection of modern art. Here, you'll find notable pieces by Picasso, Kandinsky, and Warhol. Purchase a day ticket for all three museums online. Put Alte Pinakothek at the forefront of your travel plans using our Munich online day trip planner.

Great museum in a spectacular building. Amazingly uncrowded. 5 euros for senior admission. Really enjoyed the older European paintings. The only reason I am not rating this a 5 is that, as others...

This museum's collection is incredibly deep, covering many famous painters and their works. It is too much to absorb at one time, but it is well worth a visit.

Beautifully museum. Beautiful art works. Could spend hours just walking around admiring the paintings. Would totally recommend. Also. The adjacent green space is very nice for sunny days. You can go there with friends.

I very much enjoyed visiting this museum as it has extensive collections and everything can easily be seen in one day... I only wish they had tour guides instead of audio guides, as some of the numbers don't correspond to the numbered artwork, or they need to update the audio guide and make the needed numerous errors. I am not sure if this is due to difficulties hiring enough staff during covid or some other reason... Despite these issues, the place is beautiful and well worth a visit.Their cafe also provides decent food..
