For an unforgettable adventure, visit Cascades de Purcaraccia, a canyon with fun rock and water slides and emerald green pools. Your older children will love sliding down the rockslides with water flowing down into pools. Two waterfalls are on either side of the rockslides, one at a height of 40 m (130 ft) and the other at 8 m (26 ft). The walk to get to the creek takes about an hour via the narrow and often steep footpath, so this can be a difficult trudge for very young children, elderly folks, or people with physical disabilities. Due to the interesting landscape and aura of adventure, this is a popular place for tourists.
Amid granite rocks heated by the sun, many basins or natural pools carved into the rock provide swimming opportunities if you're brave--the water is a cool 14 C (57 F). Getting to the pools is an adventure itself; a path leads into the brush with grand views of the imposing Bavella Needles. There's a giant vertical rock wall on the right side above you where you'll cross the stream and climb up on the opposite side to reach the first pool. The steep path leads to a sequence of pools and slides creating a dramatic landscape. Had a little trouble finding the right way (insufficient marking). In my opinion this is rather not suitable for children under seven years of age. But it is worth it, the bathing experience is unique and wonderful!
