The Convent Garden Market is such a colorful place in downtown London. There you can find fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, pastries, and even souvenirs. You can also grab a coffee, a snack or a meal, depending on your appetite. During the winter they have a skating ring, and when the weather starts to warm up, they start the farmers market on Saturdays and other festivals in their mezzanine or outside. May be the produce is a little more expensive than in some groceries stores, but you can buy in smaller amounts. The restaurants have good prices and variety. Follow them on their social media as they post daily updates and upcoming events.

Once upon a time, this place was a great place to go and buy food and grocery items from small / local vendors for a great price. These days the selection is still good, but the prices sure aren't. It feels like it's becoming more of a tourist trap then a place to actually regularly shop. But if $8 loaves of bread and $4 per pound apples are your thing, then this might be the place for you.
