City of the Tribes

A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.
Step off the beaten path and head to Burren Birds of Prey Centre and National Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. Visit Bunratty Castle & Folk Park and Athlone Castle Visitor Centre for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Ashford Castle (in Cong), Burren Perfumery (in Carran) and Old Kilbeggan Distillery (in Kilbeggan). There's much more to do: explore the ancient world of Rathcroghan Royal Site & Visitor Centre, get to know the fascinating history of Riverside Walk, tee off at Dromoland Castle, and steep yourself in history at Poulnabrone Dolmen.

If you are flying in from France, the closest major aiports are Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport and Cork Airport. In September, plan for daily highs up to 17°C, and evening lows to 10°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
