City of the Tribes

A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.
Royal Abbey of Cong and Ashford Castle are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Take a break from the city and head to Killary Fjord and Croagh Patrick. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Galway: Burren National Park (in Corofin) and Burren Birds of Prey Centre (in Ballyvaughan). There's still lots to do: explore the activities along Galway Bay and steep yourself in history at Poulnabrone Dolmen.

To find ratings, other places to visit, reviews, and other tourist information, go to the Galway road trip site.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiports are Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport and Cork Airport. In August in Galway, expect temperatures between 19°C during the day and 12°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
