City of the Tribes

A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.
For shopping fun, head to Burren Perfumery or Charlie Byrne's Bookshop. Step out of the city life by going to Cliffs of Moher and Connemara National Park & Visitor Centre. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Galway: Aillwee Cave (in Ballyvaughan), Bunratty Castle & Folk Park (in Bunratty) and King John's Castle (in Limerick). And it doesn't end there: tour the pleasant surroundings at Salthill Beaches, walk around Eyre Square, and explore the wealth of natural beauty at Burren National Park.

To find reviews, maps, ratings, and other tourist information, use the Galway trip itinerary planning website.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport and Cork Airport. In August, plan for daily highs up to 19°C, and evening lows to 12°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
