Olympia

Inhabited since prehistoric times, Olympia remains best known as the site of the original Olympic Games, held there for the first time in 776 BCE.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Archaeological Site of Olympia and Moni Agiou Ioanni Prodromou. Attractions like Temple of Apollo Epikourios and Neda Waterfalls make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Olympia side-trips: Kalo Nero Beach (in Kalo Nero) and Kyparissia (Kyparissia Castle & The Old Watermill). There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at Archaeological Museum of Olympia, get behind the scenes at Agriturismo Magna Grecia, and appreciate the history behind Hermes by Praxiteles.
