A major hub for visitors exploring Ireland's western regions, Galway serves as a city of art and culture, renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals.
Take a break from the city and head to Connemara National Park & Visitor Centre and Burren Birds of Prey Centre. Get a sense of the local culture at Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden and Dromoland Castle. Change things up with a short trip to Fanore Beach in Fanore (about 1h 15 min away). There's still lots to do: pause for some photo ops at Galway City Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Corcomroe Abbey, and enjoy the sand and surf at Salthill Beaches.

To see photos, more things to do, where to stay, and tourist information, read our Galway trip itinerary planning app.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport and Cork Airport. In September, daytime highs in Galway are °F, while nighttime lows are °F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
