Drogheda is one of the oldest towns in Ireland, known for its tourism and as a centre of industry and medical care. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Drogheda: Trim (Priory of St. John The Baptist, Trim Castle, & more), Navan (Donaghmore Round Tower, Bective Abbey, & more) and Newgrange Farm (in Slane). Pack the 5th (Mon) with family-friendly diversions at Tayto Park. Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 14th (Wed) at Funtasia Waterpark. There's still lots to do: explore the ancient world of Bru na Boinne, look for all kinds of wild species at Wallaby Woods Donadea, contemplate the long history of Hill of Tara (Temair), and learn about all things military at Irish Military War Museum & Family Park.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airport is Dublin Airport. In August, plan for daily highs up to 66°F, and evening lows to 51°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Sat) so you can travel back home.
