Though it is often seen as merely a stopover city, Plovdiv is actually a lively university town with bohemian cafes, a thriving art scene, and exciting nightlife.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Assen's Fortress and Park Tsar Simeon. Popular historic sites such as "St. st. Konstantin and Elena" Church and Plovdiv Roman Theatre are in your itinerary. Take a break from Plovdiv with a short trip to Pamporovo Ski Resort in Smolyan, about 1h 30 min away. Start off your visit on the 10th (Wed): take in the spiritual surroundings of Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration of God, thentake in the spiritual surroundings of Lyaskovets Monastery "Sv. Sv. Peter and Paul", thenpause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa della Nativita, and finally take in the local highlights with Walking tours. You've now added Sozopol Diving Center to your itinerary. Visit Church of St. Blaise and St Stephens Church for their historical value.
