Named for the sight of the Roman Catholic and the Serbian Orthodox temples facing each other, Unirii Square reflects the city's tolerant spirit. In the past, the square hosted religious ceremonies and military parades; today it serves as a stage for cultural events. The area's most notable buildings include the palace of the former prefecture, the bishop's residence executed in the "national Serbian" style, and the Viennese Baroque palace that houses an art collection. Notice the Baroque Statue of the Trinity, depicting the plague, famine, and war, in the middle of the square. The square also features an 18th-century fountain that once supplied the city with drinking water.     Great terrace on Unirii Square, the Dome is named. We drink hot chocolate and it was very good. It has a lot of options.  more »

    Lots of bars and activities to do, Recommend for a family with kids. You can go around the square and find a quite place to sit or go to a busy one if you want to be in the center of attention.  more »
