Peles Castle, Sinaia

4.6
Explore the rich interiors of Peles Castle, furnished with Murano crystal chandeliers, stained-glass windows, gold and silver plates, and ebony and ivory sculptures. This 19th-century royal castle, named after the neighboring brooks, was built of wood, bricks, stone, and marble. It features over 160 rooms with lots of wood carvings. Some walls here are covered with Cordoba leather, and the armory rooms house a robust weapon collection. Visit the reception room to see paintings and wooden sculptures depicting the castles of the Hohenzollerns. The seven terraces surrounding the castle are decorated with Italian statues, fountains, and ornamental vases. Nearby attractions include guards' chambers, a hunting house, royal stables, and a power plant. • It is a special place, surrounded by forests that in autumn are dressed in colors. The palace is very nice and the interior all wood is unique.

  • After two hours and thirty from Bucharest we arrive at The Castle of Pelès, seen from the outside really interesting (although no one ever mentions the crazy traffic of the Romanian roads) the internal visit of the castle is for a fee and... an hour in a row? (always less than gardaland in the summer!) built by King Carol 1 in 1873/88 has the "Swiss" look! the internal aspects of the Italian and Bavarian renaissance. colonnaded lodges and in the center of the tower with clock, ground and top floor, full, dark, very wood and many stained glass windows that we have already seen in many parts of Europe!

  • Dear visitors, Please pay attention and don't buy forest fruits from the gypsies selling them at the entrance of the castle. They do not mind in selling each time these fruits in 'reused' baskets... if you know what I mean(straight out of the bin) ! Please do not encourage the sale of fruits bought in the supermarket and sold as forest fruits. Do not ruin your visit at such a beautiful place! Enjoy
  • Avoid. They load 200 people groups into the castle at once with one instructor. The instructor just runs through the castle to exit fast before the next group. Children have 0 chance to view / hear the information. This is tourist trap meant to maximize profit over experience. Would recommend to avoid.
