ASTRA Museum
At ASTRA Museum, see the traditional dwellings from various parts of the country as well as wine cellars, sheepfolds, and small factories. Over 300 houses, workshops, and peasant industrial installations are set in the forest on the shores of two man-made lakes. Climb one of the windmills and observe the mechanism inside. You can also go inside one of the houses and see interior decorations maintained in their original form. Definitely worth a visit while in Sibiu. I would say it was the highlight of our trip. This outdoor museum is huge, very clean and well preserved. We were happy to see so many traditional old houses and to get a glimpse of how people used to live. We would have liked to be able to see more of the indoor spaces, but unfortunately some were closed :(. There is also a big lake which matches perfectly with the scenery!.Before leaving, make sure you visit also the indoors exhibition. We saw some great traditional objects over there! Highly recommend.

It's better to visit during summer or spring when everything is green, but visiting it during the winter was nice thanks to the snow. However this meant the pathways were super icy and I nearly sprained my ankle a few times... Exercise caution if you visit at this time of the year.
