Rasnov Citadel, also known as the "fortress of fear," attracts ghost hunters because of its infamous well and the recent discoveries of human bones in the castle's basement. A group of knights from the Teutonic Order built the intimidating fortress, which later served as a refuge for peasants during foreign invasions in 1215. Learn the legend of the well built by two Turkish prisoners who were promised their freedom upon completing the task and then were betrayed. A feudal museum exhibits old weaponry, tools, stamps, and traditional dress. Look for a skeleton buried underneath a glass floor. You can also try archery at the castle, or rest in one of several cafes and restaurants.     I highly recommend visiting this wonderful peace of medieval history. You can take an elevator to reach it, you get there really fast and it costs only 12 RON for adults and 6 RON for children, but then there is also the walkway, which I advise people to take as the views are really nice and you also can reach and visit the Dino Parc this way.

    Sadly, the actual fortress is currently unavailable to the public, due to some reconstruction works. The views are, however, pretty breathtaking. Nice for a 10 min walk uphill. There is a parking lot at the foot of the hill where you can leave your car for a 10 lei tax.
