Perched on the rocky shoreline of Lake Ohrid right next to the Albanian border, Monastery Saint Naum stands as one of the oldest complexes of its kind in the region. Originally constructed in the 10th century, the monastery has served several purposes during its history. Visit the complex and admire its wealth of religious artwork within, including several notable 18th-century wooden icons. You'll find a wide array of both Slavic and Greek frescoes adorning the walls as well. Be sure to stop by the grave of Saint Naum himself; it's rumored that you can still hear his heartbeat through the stone.     There were plastic floating on the shallow lake. To get here is not that easy. The place is in neglect.  more »

    It costs to park, but walking the grounds of the Monastery is free. When we got there, we found a large hotel and restaurant, both closed, but maybe this was the access to the large Monastery...  more »

    Beautiful spot at the end of the world or at the most southern spot of Ohrid lake. The church is ancient and beautifully decorated from the inside. And there are peacocks in the courtyard. Plus it’s surrounded by stunning mountains.

    I advise going for a walk in the wooded area where the springs are flowing naturally from the ground. The rest is kind of touristy but still offer beautiful views of the lake and mountains.
