Trip Planner: Europe / Portugal / Central Portugal / Lisbon District / Lisbon / Elevador de Santa Justa
Travel between Baixa and Carmo Square with Elevador de Santa Justa, an elevator located in a Gothic tower. Built in 1902 to provide transportation between two neighborhoods in the difficult, hilly landscape of Lisbon, the elevator moves up 13 m (43 ft) from the lower streets of Baixa to the Ruo do Carmo and the upper zone of Bairro Alto. On your scenic elevator ride, you can see the Tagus River, Castle of Sao Jorga, and National Theatre D. Maria II, among other sites. Don't forget to stop on the elevator's observation deck and note its Neo-Gothic iron construction. You then can explore the adjacent neighborhoods on foot. Elevador de Santa Justa Reviews
Tout est dans le titre il y a pour moi de meilleurs endroits pour voir lisbonne la ville était pas mal en travaux et la durée de la visite est très rapide more »Everything is in the title there are for me better places to see lisbonne the city was quite under construction and the duration of the visit is very fast
The Santa Justa Lift is amazing to see but if you are going on it for the view at the top only don't bother. You can access it from the top which is a short walk up a couple of streets. There are abou... more »
The review will split to 2. The lift is a waist of time. You don't need to wait to purchase the tickets or stand in line to go up (1-2 hours). You can go 7 minutes around and reach directly to the top of the lift and enjoy the amazing view. We did the walk and enjoined the view in 40 minutes. I really recommend to see the view from the top since you can see the structure of the city and several attractions from high place.
Yes this attraction is definitely a tourist trap. but there is another elevator directly behind it that takes you up for free to the exact same location. Go directly up the stairs and go straight into the store that's right across. You will be up in less than 3 minutes compared to one hour. You will be in the exact same location as you would have been taking the tourist elevator, for 5 Euro less.
