Museum Lepramuseet St. Jorgens Hospital
Housed in the original wing of one of Scandinavia's oldest hospitals, Museum Lepramuseet St. Jorgens Hospital commemorates the 8,000 Norwegians known to have had leprosy, as well as physician G.A. Hansen, who discovered the leprosy bacillus in 1873. View the small rooms reconstructed with period furniture, personal items, and wax models of leprosy patients. Other rooms exhibit medical equipment from the 19th century and information panels explaining the disease. Look for the exhibit of an early prototype of a wheelchair--a regular chair placed on a small cart with wheels. Note that the images of patients can be disturbing to some people. At the reception desk, you can buy souvenir postcards, medical books, and brochures in English. With our custom trip planner, Bergen attractions like Museum Lepramuseet St. Jorgens Hospital can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Very interesting museum in Bergen based around an old leprosy hospital. Displays explain how the causes of and treatments for leprosy were uncovered. There are photographs showing how the disease impacted on people. There’s also a herb garden which was at one point used to provide herbal treatments.

It is a very strange exhibition I really loved it. You should read a lot, but it gives you very detailed description about the hospital, the leprosis, and it's research, and researchers also. You can get acquainted with personal histories and how was the daily life there. It was great to see people to read papers :)
