#1 of 14 in Museums in Moldova
Housed in an elaborate, Turkish-style building, National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History offers insight into Moldova's natural history and the culture of its people. First opened in 1889 as an agricultural museum, the institution expanded and moved to a purpose-built facility in 1905. Split into two distinct areas of scientific study, the museum provides exhibits and information about the country's flora, fauna, and geography. Of particular interest are the museum's botanical gardens, which are the oldest in the country, and the skeleton of a dinothere. The museum provides guides in English, French, and Russian for a small price. • This was one of my favorite museums in Chisinau. The exhibits are great, and captivating. I enjoyed walking around and learning more about the culture and history of Moldova.  more »

  • Old style museum. Nothing changed there for the past 50 years for sure. Some exhibitions are interesting and it feels like you ended up in a place where the time doesn't exist at all. But all that doesn't matter when you interact with the staff. It feels like you came uninvited to their house. Also, don't you dare coming only one hour before the closing, they will ruin your visit completely, following you everywhere, counting the minutes you have left.
  • Very nice museum for a visit of 1 or 2 hours. You can see an overview of the animals of Moldova, the fossils and bones of prehistoric animals and the development of human culture of Moldova. The entrance fee is extremely low, there is a small additonal fee if you want to take pictures or videos. Highly recommended.
