Tsingy Rouge Park, Antsiranana (Diego Suarez)

Red rocks come alive at Tsingy Rouge Park, a red laterite stone formation formed by erosion. These natural chimneys of sand and red clay set against blue skies are particularly noteworthy in the afternoon sunlight. You can explore the rocky landscape formed by different oxides. Tall white columns with tinges of clay and sand underneath attract tourists, who make the 50 km (31 mi) trip from the nearest town. • You have to suffer to get there because the road is particularly bad. But as soon as you discover this site very well laid out you are rewarded for your effort.

  • Beautiful place not to be missed on the side of Diego Suarez, in the north of the island. The site is absolutely sublime and you can walk around. Stop first on the heights to admire the canyon; then walk down inside this mind-blowing rock formation
