Jurmala Beach, Jurmala

4.4
#1 of 89 in Parks in Latvia
Walk, row, sail, and water-ski at Jurmala Beach--a former favorite holiday resort of Soviet communist leaders and cosmonauts. Walk down the 33 km (21 mi) long, wheelchair-friendly beach covered with white quartz sand, and look for pieces of amber. Notice the old wooden villas designed in Art Nouveau style. You can rent water bicycles, or have a drink at the beach cafe. You also can find playgrounds, small benches, football fields, volleyball courts, kite-surfing and windsurfing stations, health resorts, and spa centers. The beach also hosts one of the largest water parks in northern Europe, offering more than 45 attractions. • Jurmala We took advantage of the proximity to Jurmala for a visit to the Baltic Sea, transport to and from Jurmala are guaranteed by buses and trains (in perfect time, clean and cheap). arrived in Jurmala we went to the beach and despite the 6th the temperature seemed lower, probably due to a slight wind that infiltrated everywhere. After the walk on the beach we took a tour around the city not very crowded but fervent of renovations. We can define the situation as the classic seaside town during the winter period. Definitely to visit at a milder time of year although I personally really appreciate the seaside towns with this climate. The sand is still cold, the water is icy, but on the beach already a lot of brave public, the ladies are trying to sunbathe topless, men also show their pale, after a long winter, body. Maybe the aesthetics here is not enough, but all are sure that summer ...
