Gracanica Monastery, a World Heritage site, represents the height of Serbian Byzantine tradition with a touch of Renaissance, and is adorned with well-preserved frescoes that date back to 1321. The monastery, with its five domes and precious decorative elements, is considered to be a first-class architectural achievement of the era. More than 20 nuns live and work on the premises, dedicating their lives to monastic obediences as well as to icon painting, agriculture, and sewing. View the lavish interiors of the monastery, where you'll see representations of the early life of Jesus. Look for the Day of Judgment fresco, which shows sinners being sent into eternal flames. Put Gracanica Monastery and other Gracanica attractions into our Gracanica trip itinerary maker tool, and watch your holiday take shape.
