Dedicated solely to Egyptian art and culture, Museo Egizio houses the world's second-largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Founded in 1824 by King Carlo Felice, the museum now contains more than 30,000 exhibits, narrating the history of Egypt from the Paleolithic to the Coptic eras. Exhibits contain funeral furnishings and numerous objects of everyday use. Look for the altar of the goddess Isis and the intact tombs of the architect Kha, a builder of pharaohs' tombs, and his wife, Merit. The staff has painstakingly preserved these ancient objects, presenting them in a visitor-friendly layout that makes exploring ancient history fun and informative for of all ages. Guided tours are available with prior reservation. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Turin holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Museo Egizio and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • It was so overcrowded to the point you couldn’t even get a decent look at the exhibits and the heat was suffocating. Went on Saturday morning perhaps a midweek visit may offer a better experience.  more »

  • An absolutely amazing collection of Egyptian artifacts! Housed in a beautiful brick building, this remains one of the most complete and oldest collections of Egyptian antiquities in the world aside from Cairo itself. Thousands of stunning examples of Egyptian life from birth to death and everything between. Mummies and sarcophagi are scattered throughout and the artistry and craftsmanship you can see here is mind blowing. Highly recommend if you have an extra couple hours.
  • Excellent museum to visit. It has one of the best collections of Egyptian art (probably after the British Museum). The way the pieces are presented makes all the experience even better. Very recommended if visiting Torino and a must if you are going with kids as I believe it is a great way to introduce them to history in a very interesting way.
