  • Another Romanesque Church of Sardinia visited on March 23, in that of Zuri, just above Lake Omodeo. Completely built and re-built with the typical red stone of the area, it has the peculiarity of the bell tower built alongside the facade, as several Romanesque churches including that of Ardara of Santa maria del Kingdom. Ten minutes from ss 131 is really worth a visit. March 23, 2019

  • The Romanesque church of San Pietro, has a fascinating history. Built at the beginning in the 13th century in the Valley was dismantled and rebuilt in 28 days in monte del lago in 1925. The old village of Zuri lies beneath Lake Omodeo, reappears during the drought. The Church is very distinctive, with the Bell Tower on the side of the façade, built with blocks of lava rock, from the reddish color. The Interior is simple, wooden trusses and statues of some Saints, including Saint Peter. Very nice.

  • Very special church, very well kept and distinguished by different peculiarities. The most peculiar... The place where it was built now and submerged by the waters of Lake Omodeo. In fact it was moved piece by piece and remade in the plateau where it is now located. Beautiful also its origins and the history of its original edification of which you know everything.

  • I had not yet seen this fantastic church, red ochre because its blocks are lava rock, and discover it was really beautiful. Speaking with some people of the country I also knew that the church, an example of medieval sacred architecture, was originally located where in 1924 the artificial reservoir of the Omodeo Lake was set up; To avoid its destruction it had been disassembled piece by piece and rebuilt upstream of the lake along with the other dwellings that constituted the original village of Zuri. A must see.
