This pub is closely associated with Irish traditional music and was where the popular Irish folk group, The Dubliners, began performing in the early 1960s.

Many other notable Irish musicians—including Séamus Ennis, Joe Heaney, Andy Irvine, Christy Moore, The Fureys and Phil Lynott—have played at O’Donoghue’s, and their photographs are displayed in the pub.

  • Visited on a quiet night Easter Monday.... Cool historic place, perhaps too much in the tourist circuit to remain fully authentic, but old-timer still brave the camera wielding hordes for a not so quiet pint.
  • My favourite Dublin watering hole. Main bar where there is often traditional music on offer. Back bar and covered alley too. Excellent quality Guinness at lower price than in Temple Bar. Usually packed, adding to the great atmosphere.
