To explore diverse animal habitats from the fringes of the Arctic to the African plains, visit Dublin Zoo. Founded in 1831, the zoo covers nearly 30 hectares (70 acres) and houses about 100 different species of animals. Boasting a renowned lion-breeding program, which dates back to the middle of the 19th century, the zoo plays an important role in the global efforts to conserve the world's endangered and threatened species. You can visit hundreds of animals spread across eight different habitats housing birds, bats, monkeys, crocodiles, tigers, turtles, and giraffes. Be sure to look in on the zoo's family farm, designed to teach visitors about modern Irish farming. With our international travel planner, Dublin attractions like Dublin Zoo can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

What a night in the zoo! Wild Lights was fantastic- I can only imagine how absolutely magical it is for children to see these fairy & mythical characters lit up. I just couldn't pick a favourite as they were all so good.

The zoo is really good! It has a lot of animals from a lot of different parts of the world and a good description of each one. It is worth it going there with time and you should spend at least half a day, so you can really enjoy the experience and make the most from the cost of the tickets.
