Witness the beauty of the Roman Catholic Cobh Cathedral, which took 47 years to complete. E.W. Pugin, George Ashlin, and Thomas Coleman began construction in 1867, and it was not completed until 1915. Officially named St. Coleman's Cathedral, this religious site is known for spectacular neo-Gothic architecture. Tour the cathedral and admire its exterior and interior beauty. Well worth a visit - such beautiful architecture, stained glass and ornamentation. This cathedral dominates the skyline in Cobh. more »
This is a very stunning, unique and majestic Roman Catholic Cathedral. Standing high above the quaint town of Cobh, it's in a very commanding position, overlooking the town and Cork Harbour. The breathtaking views from the Cathedral made climbing the steps from the bottom of Cobh town to get to the Cathedral high up from the seafront well worth it. The views from the Cathedral are nothing short of spectacular. The Cathedral itself with its 300 ft high spire is a very impressive architectural building with so many details and an exceptional spacious 'Gothic' style interior with beautiful stained glass windows. It's a must visit when in Cobh.
Absolutely beautiful cathedral. Would recommend as a must see. We went inside and were all blown away by how beautiful it was. We can only imagine how long it took to build and the skill used. A lovely man was at the door welcoming people and handing out free necklaces. It was nice taking to him. Would be nice if they made some pamphlets on the history of the cathedral and left them somewhere you can see, ask for donations or what not if you want one. Would go see again
