Have a family fun day at Tayto Park, an amusement park centered around one of the country's most popular brands of chips and popcorn. Opened in 2010, the park features a zoo where you can come face-to-face with unusual farm animals, including miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, Ouessant sheep, and Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. Other family-friendly attractions include rock-climbing walls, mechanical bull rides, live puppet shows, and face-painting activities. Take a self-guided factory tour to see the popular potato chips made from start to finish, and then visit the park's teahouse, built into a giant sycamore tree and serving tea, coffee, light snacks, and homemade ice cream. What was to be a wonderful Easter Sunday at Tayto Park, turns out the only two rides my daughter wanted to go on were shut for the day the Viking Voyage and Tayto Twister slide, only discovered this after purchasing wristbands for both of us. I suggest you ring prior to paying for wristbands, world pod Raptor' s was interesting, staff were good, coffee in lodge was nasty and at €2.70 a cup. Thank God it was a beautiful day so we could walk about the Zoo.
Tayto Park is a great place to spend the day. Great value online entry with wristband only €28.50 off peak. There is loads to see and do. I would be somewhat concerned about the small size of some of the animal enclosures, such as the Emus for example. Also, some more landscaping to hide the trucks and caravans parked beside the Bison paddock which I presume are part of the ongoing works for the new attractions would really add to the Park as they do take away from the beautiful grounds of the rest of the park. Overall though, a super park, can't wait to see it grow and expand as new attractions come online.
