Have a family fun day at Tayto Park, an amusement park centered around one of the country's most popular brands of chips and popcorn. Opened in 2010, the park features a zoo where you can come face-to-face with unusual farm animals, including miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, Ouessant sheep, and Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. Other family-friendly attractions include rock-climbing walls, mechanical bull rides, live puppet shows, and face-painting activities. Take a self-guided factory tour to see the popular potato chips made from start to finish, and then visit the park's teahouse, built into a giant sycamore tree and serving tea, coffee, light snacks, and homemade ice cream. Excellent day out for the family, highly recommended. But it's pricing is a bit mysterious letting you think you are entering for one price but having to pay to go on rides either with a wrist band or tokens at rides individually. Apart from that and the non-existent promised disable queues. It was truly a great day out. Food isn't a ripoff and there are some really international high standard rides. I would definitely put the Tayto park way ahead of the Lego Park in Windsor. There's something for all ages. Well done Tayto.
Tough one to rate. The rides and park in general are fantastic, in particular the main rollercoaster. Good zoo. There are rides for all ages (although only a couple will really excite hardy thrill-seekers). Barely any queues while we were there, albeit school term had just restarted the previous day, so not sure if this is the norm. Facilities are all well-maintained and clean. Staff are enthusiastic and very friendly. My main gripe is how much the place is geared up to take extra money off customers - souvenir shops after many of the rides, ludicrous prices for some of the food and drink - which in fairness is standard with most theme parks nowadays. In mitigation, the wristbands are really well priced for juniors, aforementioned thrill-seekers may be better off paying €4/5 for individual rides they might fancy. Free Tayto crisps on the way out at the end of the day ensured we all left with smiles on faces. Will most likely be going back; if the house remortgage is successful... ;-)
